HCB News

Special Thanks
The Howard County Ballet would like to thank John McCraw of the Towson Arthur Murray Dance Studio for his assistance with coaching and choroegraphy for the Viennese New Year's Celebration concert of the St. John's Orchestra.  HCB dancers performed during this concert on Sunday, January 16th, at St. John's Episcopal Church in Ellicott City.  We regret that the orchestra's program gave credit to the Columbia Arthur Murray studio in error.  Thank you, Mr. McCraw!

Howard County Ballet is offering all Furloughed State Employees free tickets to performances. Your State of Maryland ID must be provided. Please call 410-465-9414 or email info@HowardCountyBallet.org for these tickets.

Columbia Festival of the Arts

On behalf of the entire Howard County Ballet, Kathi Ferguson would like to commend and applaud HCB dancers on their performance in the Black Box Theatre on the evening of June 19th for the Columbia Festival of the Arts. Backstage Hands of Carol Hooper, Pam Robinson, Doug Ferguson and Mr. Roberts, made the show go extremely well. Mrs Hooper even provided an opening laugh for the audience while sweeping the Marley Floor.

Congratulations are in order!

Our director, Kathi Ferguson, and the staff at the Howard County Ballet would like to congratulate the following HCB dancers:

Spring Production Preview!

The Howard County Ballet performed excerpts from the spring production of Little Red Riding Hood and Sleeping Beauty at the May Day Celebration at St. John's Lane Elementary School on May 9th.

Performance at Johns Hopkins University

The Howard County Ballet was chosen to perform at a concert for prospective students of the Visual and Performing Arts program at John's Hopkins University.  The performance took place at Shriver Hall on Saturday the 28th of March 2009.

Marina Freydin's 1st Place Choreography was shown and the audience responded accordingly to her lovely ballet. It was danced by the same Howard County Ballet Dancers who performed in the Young Choreographers Showcase in March.

Leiland Charles rose to the occasion on and in an instant. (Literally, he was recruited only an hour before he was needed.) He performed the Bluebird variation from Sleeping Beauty Third Act with amazing aplomb, height in jumps, and turning skills.

The Howard County Ballet wishes to sincerely thank all of the dancers who participated for their professionalism and virtuosity.

The future has yet to show the best! - Kathi Ferguson
